Darrien {Dance Photography}

Have you ever had those little butterflies in your stomach when your so excited about something?  Well I did many times during my session's with Miss Darrien.  She deserves the title after proving herself to be such a lady, yet only a teen.  This session was purely for fun!  I was telling my friend Nikki how I would love to photograph someone doing ballet in a field.  She told her co-worker who's daughter(Darrien) is a performer and played the middle man introducing us.  I soon met the model, mom and Grandma at a coffee shop and we all chatted my vision and the remaining details set.
This first series is from earlier this summer and OH MY GOD were the mosquito's bad!  We all had at least 3 layers of bug spray on and were still being eaten alive.  In 30min we had 3 different outfits and 4 different backgrounds...then ran to our cars as we yelled good bye...thanks!  Now looking back we probably should have done the studio session first and got to know each other with no bugs...  Even with all the bugs, we got some great images from this first session!
We met up a second time at the studio and one of Darrien's instructor's came along to help/direct.  I'm not sure that's what her intentions were coming, but I sure appreciated it!  I love ballet but couldn't tell you anything intelligent about it other than it looks pretty!
Thank you Darrien and crew for being part of this process and trusting my vision!  And for getting up early even when you were sore & tired!  Xo

A stroll at one of my favorite parks {Sun Prairie Family Photographer}

I love referrals!  I don't care to advertise because I want people to hear about me from a friend who says "she's great", or someone who has seen my work- likes it and then contacts me.  I feel like it's the best way for the client and photog to be a good fit for each other.  Brooke works with some friends of mine and has seen my work.  We had a great time getting to know each other while we walked and snapped away.  We even got a tiny rain break in our session.  The rain only lasted minutes and we were back at it, playing with planes, helicopters and enjoyed some giggles!

The Beguhn's {Milwaukee Photographer}

We were supposed to meet up at summer mini's a couple months back, but little Mack got sick.  We were able to reschedule last month when I had other session's in Chicago.  I took the Milwaukee route home to Madison and met the Beguhn family in Waukesha.  I am clearly neglecting my blog this summer and not posting as often as I would like.  I even started getting up at 5:30 to have a couple hours of computer time in before the kiddos get up.  And now guess who gets up at 5:30...my 20month old.  Anyway I just saw Steve, Amy and Mack a couple weeks ago when we had a family session with all of the MacArdy's.  I am so happy they suggested this session be at Frame park, I love it!  I have been back for work and play.  The last series in here is my favorite, Amy is so beautiful and sweet, calm and nurturing!  Mack is one lucky little dude!

Alexandra is ONE! {Chicago family Photographer}

Miss Lexi is one and couldn't be more dreamy!  I feel like i say often how calm other people's kids are, can you tell mine are not!  Lexi's mom and dad are good friends of my sister in Chicago.  I feel like i can say friends of mine now as well.  We first met for a maternity session at the Chicago botanical gardens over a year ago(where my Sis and 3mo old tagged along).
Last summer i got to meet Alexandra fresh and new for an in home session(highly recommend).  These are great with a new baby!  Being at home is the easiest and most comfortable, not to mention we got to include the pups!
Well now she is 1 year old with lots of hair, big blue eyes, dimples and a great personality to top it off!  Happy birthday little lady!  Xo

Epic with the K family {Madison Photographer}

This session was at Epic in Verona where my husband works, so I am familiar with this beautiful location.  For anyone who hasn't been there, I highly suggest taking a tour!  I always build up the family when taking someone new out there, and they are still amazed at how big it is when we pull up.

Now for how I met this family...If you don't have Facebook, you may not know about all of these 'buy, sell, trade' sights.  People post things for sale (similar to craigslist) or ISO(in search of).  Dawn had posted an ISO for a photographer and had dozens of responses.  One of them was from my dear friend referring me.  I sent Dawn a message saying, I'm sure your inbox is flooded with responses, I attached my price list, website and phone number.  I said to check out my work and prices to see if we were a good fit for each other and to have a great day.  Well I heard back from her and we booked a session!  Turns out her husband works at Epic too and she thought that was a fun location to try.  I had a great morning walking, talking  and capturing memories for the K family!
